The Stratford Accessibility Guide
We have prepared this accessibility guide in order for you to have all the information at your fingertips when choosing our hotel.
We are committed to providing a comprehensive guidebook whilst continuously improving our services. We welcome feedback on improving this guide, and our operations.
We hope you find all the information you need, however, should you have any questions or requirements not discussed in this guide, please contact our reservations team directly on 0203 629 3333. We also have a 24-hour manager on duty in the hotel, should you require any assistance during your stay.
The Stratford
The Stratford has 145 bedrooms over five floors. There are three lifts with access to all five floors. We have a staircase that is for emergency use, however, if you would prefer to use the stairs, please let us know on arrival, and we will make the necessary arrangements for you.
Kitchen E20 restaurant and The Lounge bar are located on the ground floor. This is area is fully step free. We serve breakfast daily in Kitchen E20 whilst also offering in-room dining.
Also located on the ground floor are the reception desk and the accessible toilets. Our reception desk is available with a multi-level design for unrestricted access to all.
Our restaurant and bar area is surrounded by floor-to-ceiling windows, allowing an abundance of natural sunlight.
Our fire alarms are tested weekly and will ring continuously for 1 minute for the test only, the alarm as both audible and visual reference when it is activated.
Every bedroom has floor-to-ceiling windows, allowing plenty of light. Each bedroom also has a telephone and WiFi connectivity.

We work very closely with our local private hire vehicle company, and we are happy to assist you with making a booking, should you request it.
The Stratford is a dog friendly hotel and welcomes assistance dogs. We offer amenities for your dog in the bedroom during its stay with you.
Travelling to and around The Stratford
Transport links:
Situated adjacent to Stratford International and a 7-minute walk from Stratford Underground station, guests enjoy exceptional transport links to anywhere in the city and beyond via London Underground, Overground, National Rail, DLR and high-speed Javelin train.
- 6 minutes to St. Pancras International (King’s Cross) by high-speed rail.
- 8 minutes to Liverpool Street via Elizabeth Line
- 12 minutes to Canary Wharf via DLR Line
- 13 minutes to Bank via Central Line
- 17 minutes to London City Airport via DLR Line
- 16 minutes to Bond Street via Elizabeth Line
- 40 minutes to Heathrow Airport via Elizabeth Line
By road:

(next door to The Stratford you will find Stratford International multi storey car park and can park for £7.25 a day – Note: this charge increases on football match days. Please check online prior to your arrival).
By train:
Stratford International Station – you can arrive at our doorstep by taking the TFL rail or DLR to Stratford International Station. Six minutes from St. Pancras International by high-speed rail. Four trains running per hour.
- Stratford Station:
Only 7 minutes’ walk away, you can arrive via London Underground or Overground lines.
Overground or Central Line: Exit at Stratford station. As you leave the platform, walk down the stairs or use the lift and follow the signs to Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, Westfield Stratford City by taking a right and heading up the escalators or lift at the end.
After you exit the ticket barriers, follow the sign to Westfield Stratford City, directing you to enter Westfield shopping centre on the left. On entry, keep right and pass through with Starbucks situated on your left and WHSmith on your right.
Follow this path and exit Westfield by taking the final right turn as you see Waitrose and Great Eastern Market. You will see The Stratford on the right as you exit the shopping centre.
- Jubilee Line:
Exit at Stratford station. Follow the sign to Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, Westfield Stratford City down the stairs or lift and through the tunnel (do not go up the stairs).
Head straight through the following the signs to Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, Westfield Stratford City and go up the escalators or lift and the end. After you exit the ticket barriers, follow the signs for Westfield Stratford City, directing you to enter Westfield shopping centre on the left. On entry keep right and pass through with Starbucks on your left and WHSmith on your right.
Follow this path and exit Westfield by taking the final right turn as you see Waitrose and Great Eastern Market. You will see The Stratford on the right as you exit the shopping centre.
NOTE: there is a free shuttle bus outside Stratford International DLR taking guests to/from Here East.
- By air travel:
The Stratford is only 17 minutes from London City Airport (LCY). Take the DLR line to Stratford International Station.
Arrival
The Stratford International multi storey carpark is located next door to The Stratford. We have 12 blue badge spaces available on the 4th floor. These spaces are available for those with a blue badge eligibility.
There are four entrances to the hotel, located on the ground floor of the hotel. There is one entrance located on International Way, which comprises of a revolving door, and also a push button accessible door. The other entrance is located adjacent to Stratford International station, which also comprises of a revolving door, and also a push button accessible door. The width of the accessible entrance doors are 99cm. There is an automated push button for assistance outside the hotel next to the door.
The Front of House team are available to assist with your luggage which they can deliver to your bedroom.
The check-in desk is located on the ground floor, next to three lifts in a quiet, low-lit area of the hotel. The height of the reception desk is on two levels: the high level is 110cm and the lower level is 76cm.
There are two armchairs at the check in desk.
Food and beverage
We have The Lounge bar and Kitchen E20 restaurant located on the ground floor – across one level. We also have outside seating for the restaurant and a fire pit.
The ground floor is polished concrete, and the outside seating area is paved concrete.
Wall sockets are located throughout The Lounge and Kitchen E20.
Hotel corridors
All doors are open on door release mechanisms and are released on activation of the fire alarm. This does not include guest bedroom doors.
The minimum door width for the corridors and bedrooms are 85cm.
The Mezzanine bar is located on the mezzanine level and is accessible directly by lift from the ground floor and the bedroom floors.
All tables and chairs in all bars and restaurant are movable, and there are plenty of seating with armrests.
There is background music playing throughout the ground floor and The Mezzanine, and there is live music and DJs playing at weekends and special events.
Table service is available across all food and beverage outlets, and breakfast, located in Kitchen E20 is a mixture of à la carte, and buffet options.
Our team are happy to go through the menus and assisting where needed. All allergies and dietary requirements are catered for.
Lifts
There are three lifts located on the ground floor for guest use, that stop at every floor. The door is 110cm wide, and the floor space is 256cm x 134cm. All lifts can accommodate a wheelchair and two people. The lift has a marble floor mirrored walls.
Bedrooms
The Stratford has 145 bedrooms, that are located over five floors. All bedrooms can be accessed by the three lifts from the ground floor. All bedrooms have short pile carpets.
All bedrooms have ensuite facilities, and various lighting throughout the bedroom including both bedsides.
Our accessible bedrooms have lower spy holes installed.
We have options for a bath in the bedroom (in our studios) or walk-in showers. We have shower chairs available in our accessible bedrooms, and available upon request in all other bedrooms. All accessible bedroom bathrooms have grab rails next to the toilet and in the shower.
In our accessible bedrooms, we have queen size beds which are 135 x 190cm. The space bedside the bed is 145cm. The accessible bedroom door width is 83cm.
In the accessible bedrooms, the desk height is 72cm, and the bed height is 57cm.
In the accessible bathrooms, the sink height is 73cm, the toilet height is 45cm and the pull-down shower seat height once lowered is 47cm.
Most of our beds can be split into twin beds, however not every bedroom can accommodate this function, so please enquire with our Reservations team.
All of our bedrooms have black out curtains and net curtains. All bedrooms have non opening windows.
All bedrooms have televisions, with remotes. Subtitles are available on all our televisions.
All bedrooms have wardrobes, tea making facilities and a Dualit capsule coffee machine.
There are no steps from the corridor to the bedroom, or in any of the bedrooms themselves.
Vibrating pillow pads which are interfaced to the fire alarm are available upon request. We have 11 accessible bedrooms within the hotel, with emergency pull cord capability.
Public toilets
We have ladies, gentlemen and accessible toilets available on the ground floor and mezzanine floor. The accessible public toilet floor space is 173cm x 222cm and the door width is 90cm. An emergency pull cord is located in the accessible public toilet, and baby changing facilities are also available.

Alternatively, please speak to a member of our Front Office team, who can assist you during your stay. Should you require equipment that is not mentioned in this guide, please contact us and we will assist you.

Emergency procedures
Our fire alarm, when activated, is a continuous sounder. Vibrating pillow pads that are connected to the fire alarm system are available on request for guests with impaired hearing along with a sounder beacon in each room. Maps of emergency exits are on the back of every bedroom door. Please make yourself familiar with the routes.
Emergency refuge points are located on every floor, just inside the stairwell. Should the alarm sound, and you are unable to make your way down to the evacuation point, please stay at the refuge point, and press the button which activates at the Front Desk. State your name, room number and the floor that you are on, and a member of the team, or emergency services will come and assist you.
We have emergency evacuation chairs that allow you to be assisted down the stairs by members of the team.
Upon arrival to the hotel, a personal emergency evacuation plan will be discussed, to ensure the hotel team are aware of assistance that may be needed.
The gym
The gym is located on the mezzanine level and is accessible via the lift from all floors. The gym is on one level however, has rubber mats in one of the studios. Inductions must be taken prior to gym use for the first time.
