SUSTAINABILITY AT THE STRATFORD HOTEL
We are proud to have been awarded Gold by Green Tourism, recognising our ongoing work to operate our hotel more responsibly and reduce our environmental impact. Sustainability is an important part of how we run the hotel, and we continually look for practical ways to improve the way we use energy and water, manage waste and support more responsible travel. Our Green Tourism Gold Award provides independent recognition of our approach, and we are committed to continuing to build on this.

GROW
We have embedded GROW which is the overarching theme for our spirit of sustainability. This means we cultivate growth in our people, greenery, and encourage growth in awareness around issues that matter. We’re cultivating an authentic community, and GROW is our commitment to a socially responsible way of living that nurtures the future of E20 and local lives.
Doing our bit
We focus on reducing our carbon footprint wherever possible through initiatives such as only using LED lights within the building, installing solar panels, having flush limiters and reducing our plastic usage, such as in our dental and shaving kits. Our three sky terraces offer a unique open space for our guests and vertical community, as well as the opportunity for us to grow herbs and other ingredients which can be used by our food and beverage outlets.
Green Team
We have formed a Green Team at The Stratford Hotel to get our employees involved in our sustainability initiatives. Members from each department come together and discuss what we can do to improve our efforts and practices, as well as getting involved in exciting projects, such as planting fruit trees and berry bushes in the local community.
Towel & Linen Re-Use Programme
We participate in a towel and linen re-use programme to help reduce water the consumption, energy usage and detergent pollution of our hotel in East London. Many of our guests reuse their towels and linen at least once during their stay. If you would like fresh linen, simply place the card provided on your pillow. If you would like fresh towels, just leave them on the floor, and consider it done.
Plant a seed at The Stratford
Growth and evolution are really important to us, and our guests can get involved by planting a seed on our premises which will be looked after by our resident gardeners. Whether it’s a fruit, vegetable, herb or flower seed, our guests will be part of growing something truly special here which may even be transferred to our terraces or used as ingredients in our restaurants and bars in East London, including Kitchen E20, The Lounge and Kokin.
